Moroz (from the Ukrainian "frost") - is the personification of the winter, cold, and night in Ukrainian folklore. He was described as a tall white man with long hair, sometimes with a beard and mustache. It was believed that on the Winter Solstice, there was an ancient tradition of making sacrifices to Frost to preserve the future harvest and personal safety. Usually, it was food, but there are legends that Frost loved young, innocent girls. If a girl's body was found covered in ice the morning after the Winter Solstice, the winter would be warm.
