MAVKA

Mavka (or Nyavka) - in pre-Christian beliefs, a female spirit of nature who lived in the woods, mountains, and fields. Some believed that Mavkas were dead young girls. They are very beautiful and seductive. But if you look behind their back, you can see the internal organs - the lungs and the dead heart. Mavkas often tempt young men and take them away to the mountains and woods to entertain themselves. Sometimes, if Mavka liked the guy she could let him go, still not everyone was able to find their way home. And even those, who returned got sick and often died.
The Mavkas are very afraid of Chugaisters, who hunt and eat them.
